iPads
This device created by Apple has revolutionised tablets due to its easy useable design and tap and swipe features (Siegle, 2013). iPads have replaced laptops in many contexts including the home setting, classrooms and even universities (Siegle, 2013). This is due to the fact that they are more cost-efficient compared to laptops, they are more portable and are accessible to thousands of different low-cost and free apps (Siegle, 2013). Below is a list of apps that have become popularised due to the iPad.

Implications in the Classroom
One of the main reasons that a classroom may contain iPads instead of laptops is due to the fact that they are much cheaper than laptops, as stated above (Siegle, 2013). There are also a range of educational apps available that allow students to create and share their work as well as communicate with the teacher. iPads can also work concurrently with Apple computers with the use of programs such as iMovie and Garage Band. These apps can be used to record and create videos and music, then transferred onto the computer to edit in better detail.
